In Salida, Colorado, a teenager sneaks out one night to meet an older man. The night opens into scattered memories of a whole summer.

(in development)
The feature expands the short’s compressed night encounters into a full seasonal rhythm of empty lots and riversides giving way to rodeo bleachers, trucks, kitchens, and the open road.

I wrote the first draft of "Like You" when I was a teenager, a story of first romance that flows from one moment to another by association rather than time, circling towards a single memory of hearing:
“A guy like you is going to be fine.”
Much like traversing Colorado’s Arkansas River Valley, a larger picture appears for Smith. Defined by rugged impermanence, vulnerability, and a fortune cookie of cowboy wisdom, I made "Like You" both present with the way Smith feels and reflective on the relationship in hindsight.
